Alachua County Campaign for Grade Level Reading

Children reading books

About

The Alachua County Campaign for Grade Level Reading is hosted by United Way of North Central Florida, and is a network of agencies, community members, providers, institutions, and individuals that meet once per month to focus on maximizing the efforts of the community and organizations to ensure children are reading on grade-level by the end of third grade.

The Alachua County Campaign for Grade Level Reading holds active membership with The Florida Campaign for Grade Level Reading, a statewide campaign funded by Helios Education Foundation and an affiliate of the National Campaign for Grade Level Reading that was launched to reverse this potentially catastrophic trend by supporting common-sense solutions at the federal, state and local levels.

In communities nationwide, the Campaign works within four solution areas proven to move the needle on third grade reading proficiency.

  1. Attendance
  2. School Readiness
  3. Out of School Learning
  4. Parental & Family Support

The Campaign is a collaborative effort by foundations, nonprofit partners, business leaders, government agencies, states and communities across the nation to ensure that more children in low-income families succeed in school and graduate prepared for college or career.
