ReadingPals Volunteer Information

ReadingPals is a community of readers that spend time with kids.
We train volunteers to tutor students struggling in reading.
We empower volunteers to be unforgettable mentors.
We transform a child’s experience with books.
We produce readers.

Latest results show that 70% of 3rd graders in Alachua County need reading support before going to 4th grade. By giving just one hour a week, you can help impact a child's life. Help us work in collaboration with teachers, parents and local nonprofit partners to prepare 2nd and 3rd graders for reading success!

As a ReadingPals Mentor, you will:

  • Visit your 2nd or 3rd grader one hour per week during Fall and/or Spring for 12-25 hours

  • Tutor your student in reading with the provided reading curriculum materials

  • Become a friend and mentor to your student to encourage reading success
